EcoVivarium Reptile Sanctuary and Museum is home to hundreds of donated, rescued, or relinquished reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. Reptiles require specialized care and housing, so we cannot take every animal offered. Some lizards and snakes are better suited to living with a family than in a busy museum environment. Those reptiles are available for adoption after they pass our health exam.
If you’re interested in adopting a reptile or have just obtained one, we strongly recommend registering for our 3-part “Reptile Ownership” course. You can schedule your class by calling the Museum during regular business hours. There is a non-refundable $45 charge for the course. If you’re adopting from us, the course is a prerequisite. The $45 is applied toward your adoption fee.
Animals are accepted for relinquishment on a space and resource-available basis. If you want to relinquish your pet reptile, please contact us by phone or email before bringing the animal to us. If you have an injured or trapped reptile on your property, please call us at (760)975-9690 during regular business hours.
